NEWS & MEDIA

As we have mentioned before, Students First VA (SFVA) has discovered over 65 very explicit books in Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) accessible to children as young as 10 years old. Parents and community members have been challenging these books through a process that was allowed in School Board regulations. There has been success in getting a few of the books removed but administration decided to keep others. There are still well over 60 sexually explicit, obscene and vulgar books remaining in VBCPS libraries.

The Superintendent just changed the regulations without notifying the School Board and now parents and citizens are NO LONGER allowed to challenge these books. Curriculum materials can be challenged but not library books. Watch this short video of Vicky Manning discussing the issue.

We want the School Board to change their policy to either a rating system to be placed on books so children cannot check out inappropriate materials for their age or to remove the vulgar and explicit books. We also want citizens and parents to be able to challenge these books as they have been able to do in the past.

The Superintendent, an unelected bureaucrat making over $300,000 a year, should not be silencing parents and citizens who want to protect children from harmful materials.

Please help us as we continue to fight against this harmful School Board. We need to get people elected who will stand against porn peddlers and make the right decisions for children. Get back to the basics of reading, writing, math and preparing students to succeed in life.

We need your help!!! Go to this page to sign up to volunteer, get a yard sign, work at a poll and to learn more about the candidates. We can't take back control of the School Board without you!! If you are able to donate we also need funds to help the candidates!
